This vintage Missoni-esque pastel knit maxi came with a matching long-sleeved, off shoulder elastic waistband top ---- this is definitely one of those cases where the couple is better off separated.  Can't wait to wear the top with some high-waisted shorts!

Gnarly

This is the closest I will get to any form of surfing...

Tunic- Violet Boutiqe, Removable Collar tips- La Petite Marmoset (here), Skirt- Ann Taylor (via Buffalo Exchange), Spiked Cuff- She's Unique, Watch- belongs to LPM Ashley, Wedges- UrbanOG.com

The first and last time I tried to surf was during spring break my freshman year of college--- I was feeling over confident in my ability to tackle new physical activities-- besides, if  Kate Bosworth could hang ten, why couldn't I? (duh, stunt doubles)  That hubris lasted all of about 10 seconds when the board and I flew in opposite directions, landed in an awkward series of splashes, and left me with a royally skinned knee.  *Cue clapping from my friends on the beach*

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a fine weekend and managed not to fry too badly :) This is my entry in CAPFABB's June Style Challenge (check out the other bloggers who entered here) --I've loved lace/crochet shorts for a few years now (own a similar pair in cream) but had yet to come across such an in-your-face neon version. Naturally, I had to have them (see last 2 months of obnoxiously bright posts).  Wore this outfit to the Violet Boutique/ Spicy Candy DC/ TPWP Lookbook party on Thursday--- I'm so proud of the creative team, it was a big step for owner Julie! (if you haven't seen the lookbook yet check it here).

Saturday morning Ana Buitrago held a makeup seminar here at the LPM showroom--- here are just two of the many lovely ladies who attended and learned how to create a flawless face!
Alina (The Hyperbalist) and her bestie Kate

By the way, LPM Ashley is on the West Coast in Portlandia for the next two weeks visiting family---- miss her a ton right now!

*The title has nothing to do with this post except that there is neon in it--- and maybe my caveman eating habits...

Safety First

It's lemon-lime time baby.

Photos by Charlyndria Horton

Bustier and clutch- Violet Boutique, Pencil Skirt- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset --here--), Collar- Made by my aunt, Cross bracelet- She's Unique, Red beaded bracelet- gift from Peru, Watch- someone left it here? Shoes- Jessica Simpson, Sunnies- borrowed from SpicyCandyDC

DC's unsexily sweaty, makes-you-wish-you-lived-in-Antarctica/a nudist colony summer is in full effect! Every year in January I pray for this day to come, and every year in June I take it all back.  Thankfully, this year bustiers are considered appropriate attire (yes!).  I'm a particularly big fan of this one, which allows for emergency air ventilation--- you know, just in case you get overheated in the 107 degree weather and need to unzip.  The bf supports this safety measure...

I'm Sexy and I Know it

Photos by Ashley Turchin

Outfit: Blazer, Scarf, and Skirt- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset --skirt here--), Glasses- Stolen from Spicy Candy DC (similar here)

Accessories: Gold Cuff and Clutch- Forever21, Evil eye bracelet- belongs to one of our models, tassel bracelet- Venezuela, Necklaces- vintage and Violet Boutique, Pumps- Sam Edelman

So excited for the weekend coming up! Tomorrow we have an online photoshoot and the rest of the time will be spent celebrating Carlis's birthday-- finally will have to shed all bikini ambivalence and check out the adult swim party at the Capitol Skyline hotel.  I think I'll rock this 80s swimsuit with glasses like I did on memorial day weekend:

Nothing exudes hotness like LMFAO style sunnies, kiddie water slides and a rubber ducky :)

By the way, less than 3 hours our left in the June 3-Way Style Challenge! Get your last minute votes in here:

I don't mean for the title of this post to start you off on a solemn note---- au contraire, I hope it inspires you to think about your life goals (even if they are technically illegal in 14 states...).  This mural on the corner of 14th and Q st is part of an installation by Candy Chang that has been set up in cities around the world (read more here).  My bucket list is so extensive (own a chocolate factory, convert DC to short-short-ism, own a real marmoset...) that I couldn't think of what to write, so I opted to instead read everyone else's goals. "Runaway and join the circus" and "Make Bathtub Gin" have to be some of my favorites.  Sometimes I feel like I have indeed runaway and joined the circus--- a wonderful, fashionable, crazy circus of people that love what they do and work tirelessly to achieve big things. Okay, there's your daily pep talk. Now go out and have anal sex accomplish those goals!

3-Way Style Challenge June: LPM Showroom

In the June edition of the 3-Way Style Challenge, we invited 3 local bloggers to come "run wild" in the new LPM showroom!  Instead of styling one piece, the girls each styled an entire outfit---- all they brought were shoes/ accessories.  It was fun to see an entire outfit styled with vintage in 3 completely different ways---These ladies definitely know how to work it!

Who styled best? Vote for your favorite blogger in the poll at the end of the post--- winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to La Petite Marmoset! (Polls close Friday at Noon ET)

1) Lacey (A Lacey Perspective)

Lacey just got engaged--- she's only a little bit excited ;)
Shirt and Shorts- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset available here), Shoes- Zara

Lacey, on her personal style: "My summers are filled with color, print mixing and sequins. Don't be afraid to sparkle day or night!"

2) Monica (Monalavinia)

Top and Shorts- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset), Shoes- Zara

Monica, on her personal style: "I'm highly inspired by my surroundings. Summer time for me is skin , prints and vibrant colored vibes. Silhouettes are my focus , texture my preference, print mixing my specialty."

Top, Belt, and Skirt- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset available here and here), Clutch- her own DIY

Denisio, on her personal style: "I think my style is colorful, fun, vintage, and eccentric.  I like tailored lines like in pencil skirts because they are flattering to my curves.  I love to mix prints and textures, especially florals with animal prints.  And I love anything with a little bit of sparkle!"

Nice job ladies! Now it's time to vote:
