Peachy Keen

H

New this week! (My favorite is that velvet kimono 2nd from the left)

Shawl- Vintage, Tank- Tennis, Shorts- Forever21, Shoes- UrbanOG.com

Happy Monday! Walking around campus today felt like the opening song in Beauty and the Beast ("Bonjour, Good day! How is your familyyy?")-- everyone was in a good mood and embracing the beautiful weather.  A huge group of students (one of whom was in a gorilla suit) wearing pink T-shirts bearing the word "LOVE" in big bold letters walked down the mall holding hands and picked up more followers as they went along (It was part of an SGA campaign). This ended in some kind of giant mob/hands-holding circle/motivational chant as everyone else on their way to class looked on confusedly. Okay, so maybe that's a little too much cheer, but the energy was contagious!

Decided to wear this peach roller-disco-looking shawl wrap-- i'm loving the huge bell sleeves! Feeling very Foxy Cleopatra :)

Wrote my first article on spring style for the Examiner online--find it here!

Woman in the Mirror

Blouse- Vintage (Dior), One piece/swimsuit- Thrifted, Harem Capris- Tennis, Platforms- Aldo, Chainmail Necklace- Forever21

I proclaimed my love for Michael Jackson's style in a post from a few months ago (here) , and without even intending to, I dressed like him again!  I can just imagine good old Jacko with his curly locks and open shirt blowing in the wind as pyrotechnics shoot off in the background.  A tip when thrift/vintage shopping: Scour the swimwear section! A lot of times you'll find not only swimsuits but one piece body suits (a la American Apparel) that get thrown in there.  This one was perfect for our 78 degree Monday (please come back!)--- I just lay outside between classes soaking up some Vitamin D while getting my reading done (I know that's bad but I couldn't help myself!)

Orange Overload

Are your craving cheetos from all the orange in this post yet? (I know I am!)

Blazer- Thrifted, Dress- Vintage, Glasses- Forever21, Turquoise Ring- gifted, Platforms- Jessica Simpson

Whenever I see a long floaty feminine dress like this one, my initial instinct is to slap a belt on and wear it with my straw fedora. Easy, safe, and flattering. This time the color struck me-- it was reminiscent of Jil Sander's show stopping spring looks many of us have been coveting. While the dress's cut is definitely not as modern and minimalist and I don't have a royal purple blazer, I still thought I'd give these pieces a shot at interpreting the look.  The result: I love it! It's complete color therapy-- kind of hard not to feel extra cheerful when dressed head to toe in crayola brights :)

Attended DC's Worn Magazine Launch party on Friday night at the Museum of the Americas and got a chance to meet some incredible local designers and artists!
