Blossoming

Cape- Vintage, Tunic and tights- Forever21, Wedges- Cooperative (Via UO)

The cherry blossoms are finally coming out! They've been very slow to bloom in my neighborhood because of the weather-- hoping to make it down to the Tidal Basin this weekend to get some good pictures!

Have you ever bought a multi-piece thrifted/vintage outfit just because you like the jacket or the skirt and they wouldn't be sold separately otherwise? This sheer floral cape came with an old granny wedding-party dress of the same pattern (but not sheer-- that would have been one scandalous granny!) that actually has some alteration potential.

Congrats to Kathleen Carla of Inspirafashion for winning the blue lace top giveaway!

Eggstreme

Blazer- Express, Women's 2XL shirt worn as dress- Vintage, Booties- Jeffrey Campbell, Belt- Forever 21, Cuffs- Street vendors/ Charlotte Russe

I am breakfast's #1 fan --I look foward to it when I go to sleep at night, I dream about pancakes, and I will literally drive to class with my knees while eating a bowl of cereal when in a time crunch (I know, probably not the safest).  So when the bf asked this morning if he could treat me to my favorite meal of the day (scratch that---LIFE), I happily went along.   You can imagine my shock and dismay after ordering a vegetable egg-white omlette when I received THIS huge monstrosity (The pictures don't do it justice-- it was at least 2 inches thick! Notice how it dwarfs the pancakes.).

We stared. We blinked. We rubbed our eyes and stared some more. We poked it-- it moved! "Umm excuse me miss, I think there must be a mistake? I ordered an omelette."

"Nope, thats it! Niiice and fluffy!"

Fluffy indeed! I attacked the omelette with all my might but ended up only finishing half and barely touched the pancakes (I don't know how that guy on Man vs. Food does it!). Eggs-austing!

Moved the store to Etsy (The header link hasn't been updated yet).  Just added new items---- find these and more here! :)

Nature Photography

Top and belt- Forever21, Necklace- Street vendor, Cuffs- Costa Rica, Skirt- Vintage, Crochet sandals- UrbanOg.com

When I decided to take pictures in a different local park today, I didn't think I'd end up interrupting a teenage couple (I'm sure they were just trading baseball cards in the back seat of that car...in broad daylight...next to my brother's preschool...with no pants on...). The gall! The nerve! And no there are no pictures! So back to clothes...

This wrap maxi skirt was a couple of sizes too big when I bought it and I didn't feel like sewing on a new button so I just used a safety pin --- can't ever pass up a good Ikat print! Hoping that it doesn't snow tomorrow and I get to wear more hippie-inspired outfits :)

Bubblegum Brights

It's hard to tell from this picture but the lipstick is actually a bright orange color that's not too different from my nails!

Green button up- Thrifted/DIY, Tank and skirt- Zara, Platforms- Jeffrey Campbell, Jewelry- Laila Rowe

Decided to break with the usual LBD on Saturday and wore this out for my birthday instead (I feel like there must be a cartoon character that wears this color combination but I can't think of who... maybe if Meg from Family Guy borrowed Lois's shirt?).  This is also my interpretation of the spring color-blocking look (a la Prada and Gucci).  It's easy to overdo it on the color though... almost walked out the door wearing tall stacks of beaded rainbow-colored bracelets on each arm! Thankfully, the part of me that was turning one year older looked into the mirror and said "Whaaaatt? Do you think you're going to a rave or something?"

Me: "I'm going out for sushi! I wish I was going to a rave..."
Older me: "You still don't understand what the heck dub step is, that's not your scene!"
Me: "Okayyy" [*Womp womp* Takes bracelets off]

In the end I was happy with a slightly more subdued look (Although now I know what I'd wear if tickets to Miami's Ultra Music Festival were to magically fall in my lap... pretty please?)

Channeling Proenza

Blazer- Thrifted, T-shirt and pleather shorts- Forever21, Shoes- Rainbow

Found this blazer while out vintage hunting and immediately thought of Proenza Schouler's bright neon spring 2010 tie-dye prints. After seeing me set up racks of clothes, my little brother (the one in the picture) proclaimed that he too was going to have a store one day--- selling shirts! This comes from the same 4 year-old who likes to match his t-shirts with his sneakers... maybe he's been spending a little too much time with me. Time to enroll him in soccer!

Hips Don't Lie

Went out for sushi/karaoke fun on Saturday-- I think bf sang the most songs out of anyone!

Nightgown worn as dress- Vintage, Necklace- Mom's, Belt- Forever21, Wedges- UrbanOG.com

Have you ever had one of those nights where your going out plans fall through and you end up doing something completely unexpected?  What started out as having over a few friends for leftover birthday cake and wine turned into an all-out, 4-hour hip swiveling (attempted hip swiveling) Shakira/Spice Girls/TLC  dance marathon. Took some entertaining videos that I've been ordered never to release to the public! (Time to black mail...)

Quickie DIY: Snip snip!

Shirt- Thrifted/DIY, Shorts- Abercrombie (from high school), Booties- Jeffrey Campbell, Earrings- Thrifted

Today's DIY was spontaneous and inspired by that "I have nothing to wear!" feeling when getting ready in the morning (so spontaneous that I have no pictures of the actual process, but it's so simple a monkey could do it!).  Don't get me wrong, I love sites like Nasty Gal and Pixie Market, but sometimes it seems like they're charging $60+ for a shirt just because it has a tapered hemline and cut-out shoulders. I have scissors too you know!

Literally, all I did was cut a hole in each shoulder of this shirt (it's made out of that nice soft Tommy Bahama-like fabric)  and cut the shirt in the front below the fourth button (tapering the cut towards the side seams). Voila! New shirt in 30 seconds! I like the raw unfinished look of the edges, but you can choose to sew them.  Thinking about going on a scissors rampage... hide your clothes!
