The Pants Diet

Quick way to "lose 10lbs?" Wear pants that are wayyy too big for you :)

Photos by Ashley Turchin

Pants & belt- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset), Tank- Forever21, Clutch- Aldo, Triangle Bracelet- Nebraska, Celtic Ring- Ireland, Platforms- Jessica Simpson

You know those print ads with impossibly fit people holding up tent-sized trousers touting "I lost 100 lbs on the blankity blank supplement diet"? That's how I feel when wearing these glorious pantalones--- they are way too big for me (note giant crotch-ular folds), but I kind of like them that way because a) who cares when they have a mind-blowing print; and b) The aforementioned pants diet effect.  I will make sure to test this theory tonight at dinner and update you on the findings :)

The Amazing Purse Woman

*Zzzzzip*--- Bam!

Photos by Charlyndria Horton

Vest, Bag, and Clip-on paisley earrings- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset), Dress- Forever21, Collar Tips- La Petite Marmoset (here), Triangle bracelet- random store in Nebraska, black beaded bracelet- gift from Venezuela, Tulip ring- vintage, Boots- Soles (here)

Recently discovered the magical mirror in the bottom of this purse after having a "duh, there's a zipper for a reason" moment---- how effing cool is that?  Maybe I found this purse for a reason--- maybe I'm actually meant to help the poor mirrorless people of the world who have spinach stuck in their teeth at lunch! (that was me the other day, and I WISH someone had come to the rescue!).  Maybe I can use it to reflect sun and blind an attacker (since pepper spray is technically illegal to carry in DC)--- maybe it's kind of like having a super power! Maybe I watched too many cheesy comic films this past weekend...

Summer Work: LPM Lookbook July

"Instaaagram!"

With Summer more than half way over (say it ain't so!), we realize this lookbook may come a tad late--- we actually shot it in the beginning of June, but due to a variety of factors, we are finally releasing it now!  The concept "Summer Work" came from this idea--- what if, instead of middle-aged day laborers/landscaping men in work boots and ripped jeans, we replaced them with gorgeous LPM girls in 5 inch heels and neon?  The result had us parading around Columbia Heights in 90+ degree weather on a Sunday afternoon, scrambling to borrow a truck last minute, and asking a confused neighbor if we could mow his lawn (I don't think he minded too much).  People came out to their front porches to watch the procession and wanted to know-- could they too, have a cameo in our "rap video?"

A big thank you to the wonderful team that worked on the lookbook!

Just got back from a long weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska (woohoo!) for a wedding--- all cow jokes aside, it was actually a pretty awesome city. For example, the rehearsal dinner took place in a  restaurant that was semi-hidden in the back of a Latino supermarket--- hands down some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! Lincoln is also home to the International Quilt Study Center & Museum--- so next time you have a big quilt test coming up, you know where to go :)

Congrats to Natalie of Fashionably Broke for winning the Flawless Face Workshop giveaway! For those who still want to sign up (workshop is coming up this Saturday!) there are a few spots left here.

Skirt or Really Stylish Apron?

My rooftop neighbor just planted some new cherry blossoms--- don't mind if I do :)

Photos by Charlyndria Horton

Blouse- Violet Boutique, Collar tips, Pencil Skirt, Bag, and Scarf- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset (tips-here- skirt -here-) Sunnies, cuff, and ring- Forever21, Shoes- Michael Kors

A lesson from the school of quick and dirty-- here's how to create the illusion of a scarf print skirt for free (or as close to free as possible)

1. Take scarf you already own
2. Tuck into skirt you already own (safety pin helps)
3. Wonder why you ever spent countless lunch breaks agonizing over whether you should purchase the SS 12' imitation prints on ASOS, Topshop and Zara knowing that you would probably not wear them after this season. (This last one is really just for me...)

Yay!
