Friends with Benefits

I got 4 pickles hey hey hey hey

Photos by Lida Ramsey

Sequin Moto Jacket- Walter Baker (scored at Sample Sale in Chelsea Market, similar here), Scarf- Denada Design, Sweater and Maxi- Thrifted (the sweater is Saks and the "maxi" is a nightgown), Eel Clutch- Vintage, Shoes- Dolce Vita, Jewelry- wholesaler

I : fashion as my best friend Lida : food --- basically, we count on each other to find out about gems in our respective areas of interest.  So when Lida told me she wanted to take me on a tour of the Eat Good Food Group (hey, I like to eat good food!) and several of their restaurants in Alexandria, Va, I didn't hesitate.  We lunched at Restaurant Eve--- It was like finding the secret garden of gastronomy!  It's tucked away in an alley and has a very quiet, relaxing atmosphere.   I would definitely recommend their "Lickety Split" lunch-- any two items on the menu are $14.98.  Loose mermaid dress advisable ;)

How to Lose a Girl in 10 Seconds

Photos by Cheralee Lyle

Fringe Jacket- BB Dakota (old), Shift dress and collar tips- La Petite Marmoset, Clutch- Vintage, Shoes- Nine West, Belt- Asos

Apologies for the lack of photos (because I know you guys are sooooo disappointed there aren't 7+ pictures of me)--- recently I've been having some issues with blurriness. On the day we took these photos, an elderly man sauntered over, burst my personal space bubble and said, "You make me want to have babies. Are you gonna make some pretty babies for me?" This was followed by a smoochy sound mating call.  As difficult as it was to turn down this offer, I had to decline---- I thought a first date was in order before any further discussion of family plans.

Have a great weekend!! ;)

They Call me Mellow Yellow

Do you ever coordinate your outfits with music? ( Apple bottom jeans, boots with the furrr would probably work well...)

Photos by Lise Silva

Sweater and clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Belt and booties- Asos, Jeans- Gap (from 2 years ago)

Here is the song that goes with this particular ensemble:

Houndstutu

Meridian Hill Park is one of my favorite spots in DC :)

Photos by Lise Silva

Jacket and clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Tutu-American Apparel, Triangle bracelet- Nebraska, Shoes- Nine West

Anytime your daily inner wardrobe dialogue gravitates towards a tutu, you know it's going to be a good day! I love the ladylike velvet scalloped trim on this houndstooth jacket-- gives it that little something extra :)

Angie Leg for Fall

Return of the lucite booties :)

Photos by Ashley Turchin

Sweatshirt, skirt, and clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Necklace- Sears, Booties- Asos

This outfit was all about slight adjustments. I've been on an unsuccessful hunt for the perfect vintage grey shrunken sweater--- until then, I decided to turn the bear pullover from this post backwards.  The tartan Ralph Lauren skirt originally had an awkward length slit (not allowing for enough Angie-leg freedom) so I decided to undo the seam another 8 inches and voila! Sexy blanket status.  Finally, we removed the short strap from the purse to make it a clutch. Ask not what your clothes can do for you, but what you can do to your clothes :)

Blue Steel

The building across the street is going up so quickly!

Photos by Lise Silva

Jacket- Vintage (La Petite Marmoset), T shirt- Urban Outfitters, Blue Skinnies- c/o Rock and Republic for Kohl's, Necklace- Vintage (my mom's), Glasses- Belong to Lise

I was quietly obsessing over Zara's silver synthetic moto jacket until I found this real leather, made in Paris, bad *** baby from the 80s--- it even has a hidden inner pocket! (good for my stash... of chocolate). As for the jeans, I was pleasantly surprised with the fit--- I don't normally wear skinnies (or pants in general) but this Rock & Republic + Kohl's collaboration has made me a believer.

We had a busy weekend at the showroom between photo shoots and private appointments! Email info@lapetitemarmoset.com to schedule a time to stop by and play :)

Satin and Silk

Photos by Lise Silva

Skirt, bag, and bracelet- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Shirt- Forever21 (belongs to LPMAshley I think?), Flats- Deena & Ozzy, Knuckle Ring- Pure Dead Brilliant

Dear Beautiful Vintage Maxi,

You know the glorious sensation of fresh-shaven gams? I could pace back and forth in you all day just to feel your airy silk brush against my legs---I swear that a) this is not a line from 50 Shades of Grey and b) I'm not on hallucinogenic drugs (although i'm pretty sure the construction workers across the street think otherwise).

Satin+Silk+Gold Embroidery+Sheer front panel = Vintage Indian bliss.

And in case the description/photos above didn't hammer home how much I love you, here's quick clip (haven't decided yet if this music is creepy or awesome):

And in case THAT didn't convince you, here's a number from Silk Stockings (apply it to yourself, not lingerie)

The end.

Love,
Katherine

Going to War

This is what fear looks like...

Photos by Ashley Turchin

Camo Jacket- Thrifted, mini satchel- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Collared blouse, metallic belt, and ear piece- Asos, Crochet Tunic- a beach cover up from 5 years ago, Booties- Miista

Glad that I finally have an excuse to take advantage of all the camo print fatigues I find! This is a great type of jacket to keep any look from feeling "too pretty" (because why would we ever want that?) Thanks to Nadine's hair workshop tips, I got a chance to test out a more volumized top knot bun than I normally do--- I think it would make a nice home for birds

Sad to be missing out on the New York Fashion Week Festivities, but will still be celebrating Fashion's Night out tonight in Georgetown with fellow bloggers! Look forward to seeing you there :)
