Time to Pretend

My first watch since, oh, 7th grade...

Photos by Cheralee Lyle

Tunic- random store in NY, Wool Maxi Skirt- Thrifted, Necklace- St. Clair Jewelry, Bracelet- wholesaler, Boots- UO, Wrap-around watch- c/o BCBG Generation

My time zone is currently set to Latino Eastern Standard. Aka chronically 10-15 minutes late (Wait! Before you cry "stereotype" read here). When I was 12, I thought that owning the coveted frosted metal Fossil analog would help fight this tendency AND make me "cool" at the same time (Abercrombie + Fitch, Addidas flip flops, and Express flare jeans can all be included in this category). I soon found that not only was I still late (who could tell time with numberless ticks?), my AIM friends list had not grown in number (MocoMamasita18 was not pleased). I decided to let my chain link watch gather dust along with my stretchy tattoo choker necklace and rhinestone monogram pendant.

To me, this is a Mexican textile meets-friendship bracelet meets-watch. There's no pressure for me to use it for its intended purpose (umm, being on time for life) because I actually want to wear it with everything.

Did I mention one of my New Years resolutions was to always be 15 minutes early?

Washingtonian 2012 Style Setter Party

It's all in the hips :)

Beaded fringe top and navy clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Skirt- Zara (thrifted by LPMAshley), Shoes- Zara

I had the pleasure of attending the Washingtonian 2012 Style Setter Party at Sax Lounge last night sponsored by Ann Taylor and Honest Tea (here's a post from the grand opening last year)--- the party honored several fashionable DC scene stealers, in particular our friend and blogger Sai of Because I Am Fabulous. You know how People Magazine does a "Who Wore it Better?" section? Sai does the same thing, except it features her vs. a celebrity... Sai always wins! I could go on and on about this woman's around-the-clock perfection, but you must really see for yourself--- you will rethink wearing sweatpants to the grocery store.

Also, I think I just had a vintage 80's beaded fringegasm.

Leatherhead

Photos by Lise Silva

Dress- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Hat- La Petite Marmoset, Belt- Asos, Clutch- Violet Boutique, Spiked Cuff- She's Unique, Beaded cuff- Forever21, Heels- Calvin Klein

Obsessed with this leather cap we've started carrying at the showroom--- it's perfect for going incognito for a little while (or hiding a bad forehead breakout...).

I wanted to share a painting/photo styled and shot by Lise, our new photography intern--- she has a great eye and is full of ideas, excited to get some projects going! See more photos on her blog here.

Fur is Wonder

Hello there bacon-egg-and-swiss on whole-grain yuminess...I know you're so bad but you taste so good!

All photos by Sebastian Marin

Coat- Vintage, Velvet Dress- Thrifted J. Crew, Sunnies and necklace- Forever21, Shoes- Miista, Bag- Style & Co, Chain Bracelet- Dearbearcat (here)

I finally experienced a real vintage fur-gasm! (don't you love how you can add that suffix on to any word and instantly make it sound way more exciting?)  Not only does this coat have mink and leather zig-zag stripes, it has paisly print lining that adds what I referr to as "secret fun" (It's kind of like wearing fabulous underwear that only you know about).  Naturally, I wore it to go eat deli bagel sandwiches---- hope you all had a great breakfast this morning and start to your week!

Bloggers, Babes and Bubbly

Little did I know that was the last time I'd see my Iphone... another one bites the bar!

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Here are a couple of quick photos from Violet Boutique's holiday party for La Petite Marmoset, Spicy Candy, A Lacey Perspective, and The President Wears Prada.  We were so honored to have many bloggers, friends, family, and fans in attendance as well as the rest of the crew from the lookbook (some of whom might have had a lit-tle too much bubbly! You know who you are...). Julie and her staff at Violet were super friendly and accommodating as always--- they even ordered cookies with our marmoset logo on them! We kept the party going afterwards at Little Miss Whiskey's on Hst (Check out Pich&Roor for a recap!). Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us and our lookbook!

Met Kristin for the first time- two thumbs up for the top knot
Katie and her fiery hot chameleon hair
Got to meet Alison of Chain Strap Purse-- I want that skirt!
Vivi in all Vintage

Waverly and Gwynn--she makes her own jewelry!
Photos by La Petite Marmoset--- better ones in the next post!

Last Tuesday I attended the Capital Fashion and Beauty Blogger (CapFABB) monthly meet-up at Nectar Skin Bar in Georgetown--these events just keep getting better and better! Nectar provided complimentary manicures and makeup help as we sipped on mixed low-calorie Voli vodka drinks (that just might push me over the alcoholic edge!). Every time someone quips about DC's "lackluster style" I want to drag them to a meet-up-- these ladies know how it's done!
