Mini-trip

My favorite mural in DC

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Pleather Jacket- Rainbow Stores, Caftan- vintage, purse-thrifted, Cross chain- Forever21, Wedges- Urbanog.com

I once read an article in the travel section of the Post about how to take a "mini-trip" in DC--- you could go to "Jamaica" or "Peru" (among other places) by visiting a few key restaurants, bars and museum exhibits (That's what I love about this city!) I have a soft spot for this Afro-Colombian mural on U st--- the imagery feels straight out of the warm coastal region and sends an important message about the conditions of people living there.  (I thought maybe by standing in front of it I could pretend it wasn't 40 degrees outside!)  This was the caftan I mentioned I wore on Thanksgiving to allow for maximum food intake--- I think from now on I'll always go to dinner in such pieces :)

UPDATE: Getting ready for a big holiday lookbook shoot coming up this week with Spicy Candy DC, Lacey, and The President Wears Prada! I'll give you a hint--- there's pie involved :)

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! We didn't eat until 8pm last night so I am just now recovering from my Tryptophan overdose-- I made sure to wear a nice loose caftan to hide my food baby.  Just wanted to let you know that I'm thankful for family, friends, our readers, and all the great bloggers and store owners I've met in the last year as well as the members of the local press who have given us a lot of support! Cheers to a growing fashion community and lasting relationships :)

Also wanted to share our Black Friday deal:

SAVE 20 % WHEN YOU USE THE CODE "LPMFRI" at checkout on LPMVINTAGE.COM!

"Love the Monkey!"

All photos by Lake Braddock Photography

Here are some behind the scenes shots from our online photo shoot last Saturday--- we were so lucky to have a great group of girls at the house helping out!  Lacey was on location guest styling--- within minutes of arriving she started putting together outfits and figured out a system for making sure all 40 looks were photographed without skipping a beat. (She basically was an organizational lifesaver and kept me from running around like a chicken with my head cut off).  I loved the pre-holiday vibe of the outfits--- this was a nice warm up for our official holiday lookbook we're shooting next week! Thanks to everyone who helped :)

To boot, Caroline made the most BOMBDIGGITY behind the scenes video that I can't stop watching!

LPM 3-Way Style Challenge

I'm excited to finally reveal the pictures from a little project we were working on over the weekend! La Petite Marmoset picked three local fashionistas to style three of our reconstructed vintage pieces: A tartan jacket, a red cutout top, and a hi/low pleated plaid skirt.  I loved that no two looks came even close to being the same---- these girls have such distinct styles but totally rocked each piece in their own way!

1) Krystin (Be Loud Be You)
"My friends think my style is crazy," says Krystin-- she loves mixing different prints and textures (check out the combos above: Tartan and leopard, Silk and sequins, beads and plaid!).  We love how she makes "loud" look completely natural!
Asos pink blazer, H&M dress (she got it for $5!)

2) Alina (The Hyperbalist)
"I know this is cliche, but I would describe my style as eclectic," says Alina. "And that's really what it is!" She also described as vintage, grunge, whatever she feels like "but definitely NOT preppy!" We are digging your eclectic vintage grunge laid back definitely not preppy take on LPM! (Especially that T-shirt)
Shirt from Style Etoile and Shoes from Steve Madden
3) Victoria (Curious Chase)
"A friend of my mom's found these cowboy boots at the thrift store and knew I would like them!" We wish we were all so lucky to have fairy shopping mothers-- Victoria said she doesn't like her style to be "predictable" and she got inspiration from living in New Orleans--- "people don't care about trends, they just dress how they feel." Her bold red lip was the perfect accessory!

Nice job ladies! Until next challenge...xoxo

Skater Girl

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Stole, Blazer, Dress, Necklace, and Clutch- Vintage, Cuff- H&M, Shoes- Nine West (here), Socks- Target

I'm pretty sure I used to own a dress exactly like this when I was 10 for ice skating--- that's probably why I love it so much! (The intense wind on this day made me wish it was an actual skating dress with attached bottoms.) I'm suddenly regretting that I axed my old stretch velvet collection...

Let's go ahead and add "reminds me of Michelle Kwan" to the list of criteria for making a vintage purchase!

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, skip through Kurt Browning's mullet to 0:35 and prepare to be amazed...

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Port

Lucite done right!

Photos by La Petite Marmoset

Jacket- Vintage Saks Jandel, Shirt- Thrifted, Trousers- Zara, Bag- Style & Co, Boots- Asos

My inner pirate likes to comes out every now and then in the form of an outfit like this one-- vintage black and red jacket (I own multiple), black pants, white shirt and boots --- it's not usually until I leave the house that I realize I look like a swashbuckling mistress.  If I were a pirate, I think I would only steal chocolate--- my flag would be a skull and Crunch Bars! Yes, these are the things I think about.

This morning was one of those hectic starts to the day that called for a little lunchtime TLC. Instead of my usual avocado turkey wrap, I popped open a bottle of Port and grabbed all the cheese in my fridge (muahaha). The joys of working from home... swear I'm not an alcoholic!
