Burlap Sack

I can see through your sole...

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Faux leather jacket- Rainbow, Dress- Vintage, Bag and heart ring- Thrifted, Sunnies and silver cuff- Forever21, Watch- Cartier (vintage),  Booties- Asos (here)

You know that saying, "She could wear a burlap sack and make it look good"? I think someone actually took it to heart and decided to use one to make this dress (I swear the material doesn't look this wrinkly in person!). I kind of love it. Maybe it looks more like a brown paper bag-- either way, the best part is the attempt to dress it up with an asymmetrical lace overlay. Next time you have a bag and a doily, you know what to do...

Fancy Pants

I mean how could you not want to do this?

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Sweater, Jumpsuit and clutch- Vintage, Flats- Deeny & Ozzy (Via Urban Outfitters), Cuff-Forever 21

I've had this brocade "evening" jumpsuit for a couple of years now--- I imagine some high society lady in the 60's with a top knot bun used to wear it with gold kitten heels while elegantly smoking a cigarette.  I decided to Aladdin-it-up and wear the piece with flats---The pant legs are HUGE! I love that it totally looks like you're wearing a dress at first until you do a little side kick and people get excited: "A jumpsuit-- no way!" (That was the reaction from Julie at Violet Boutique).  Walking pendulum style is mandatory :)

Cavewoman

I love this photo Sebastian took while we were at the farm this weekend!

All photos by Sebastian Marin

Fur Cape, blazer, blouse and clutch- Vintage, Trousers- Zara, Heels- Cooperative (Via Urban Outfitters)

I am woman. Hear me roar-- I hunted down 100 rabbits to make this cape with my bare hands!

This is not actually the case, but it makes for a much more interesting story than "I hunted it down while searching for vintage.Either way I was ecstatic to find it!  Seriously... it's fur...and a cape... this is possibly better than the leather and zig zag striped coat (And who doesn't want to feel like a bad ass cave woman?).
Spent this past lovely weekend at a farm with The President Wears Prada, Ashley, Alejandra, and Spicy Candy DC for a photoshoot for NOVA magazine--- everything looked so magical covered in snow!  The final product doesn't come out for a few months (counting down the days!)-- so honored that Ashley and I got to be part of it!  As you can see, I played an integral role in making sure everyone stayed on task:

Happy Monday!! Check www.lpmvintage.com to see some of our newest vintage and reconstructed vintage pieces :)

An American in "Paris"

These are the kind of heels you wouldn't want to step in a crack with...

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Dress- Vintage (reconstructed by La Petite Marmoset), Sunnies- Forever21, Purse- Vintage, Shoes- Zara

If you've been reading this blog for a little while now, you know that I have a love affair with DC--- one of the reasons is because it was modeled after Paris.  Now, in no way am I saying DC rivals Paris in beauty or art (c'mon, it's PARIS people), but there are certain key structural elements that draw inspiration from the romantic european city--- like these lovely bridges!  Maybe I'm living in a dream world to think such things! Maybe not. Then again, I do run around wearing tiny dresses in the winter time...

Here's a link to one of my favorite clips from the old musical "An American in Paris"-- appropriately set by a bridge :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qszwlDW40_E

Flavor of the Month: Preppy Sorbet

Well, maybe not for a whole month, more like Flavor of the Day :)

Photos by Sebastian Marin

Silk top and Mint trousers- Thrifted, Clutch- Aldo, Orange Suede pumps- Cooperative (Via Urban Outfitters), Cuff- DIY from Studio 85

Decided to get all "prepped' out" the other day after being inspired by these wonderful mint green trousers I found while thrifting-- this is a rare occasion! It's nice to change things up every now and then-- especially heel wise (these orange ones are literally more down to earth than my collection of Jeffrey Campbells).  What do you guys think of the DIY cuff from the Studio 85 event on Sunday? I was pleased with the results :)

"La Vie est Belle": Ashley Turchin + La Petite Marmoset

Photos of Ashley (who models her own pieces as well) from our most recent photoshoot-- she has her "blogger pose" down!

From Top: Top and belt- Ashley's own, Skirt- Reconstructed LPM (similar here), High Low Batik Dress- Reconstructed La Belle Vie for LPM (here), Yellow Blazer: Vintage LBV for LPM (here), Pink Blazer- Same, Red High-low hawaiian- Reconstructed LBV for LPM

I first met Ashley via Etsy message online--- she was happy to find another like-minded vintage enthusiast in the DC area!  Ashley is the owner/creative director behind La Belle Vie Vintage, an etsy shop that stocks romantic, ethereal vintage pieces. (Basically, the ying to our yang)  After meeting her in person at the Violet Boutique Holiday Party, we began bouncing ideas of of each other and decided to start collaborating. She had some pieces on her shop that she felt could use a reconstruction update----- we loved her looks in the LPM 3-way style challenge and were excited to have a fresh take on the shop.  Check out some of the looks from our most recent photo shoot above--- can't wait to work more with this chica!

Moo-ral

Great balls of fire!

All photos by Sebastian Marin

Coat- Vintage, Blouse- Reconstructed Vintage (La Petite Marmoset), Pants- Forever21, Purse- Thrifted, Booties- Asos (here)

It's gotten to the point where every time I see a cool mural I will literally pull over to the side of the road to take pictures--- this one in Silver Spring looks like a scene from a dream!

Also, add "makes you look like a farm animal" to my ongoing list of criteria for purchasing vintage-- I didn't have to think twice about snatching up this bovine-inspired coat!  Hope that the people moo-ing at me were appreciating the print and not commenting on my appearance...
