Jacket and clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Tutu-American Apparel, Triangle bracelet- Nebraska, Shoes- Nine West
Anytime your daily inner wardrobe dialogue gravitates towards a tutu, you know it's going to be a good day! I love the ladylike velvet scalloped trim on this houndstooth jacket-- gives it that little something extra :)
Sweatshirt, skirt, and clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Necklace- Sears, Booties- Asos
This outfit was all about slight adjustments. I've been on an unsuccessful hunt for the perfect vintage grey shrunken sweater--- until then, I decided to turn the bear pullover from this post backwards. The tartan Ralph Lauren skirt originally had an awkward length slit (not allowing for enough Angie-leg freedom) so I decided to undo the seam another 8 inches and voila! Sexy blanket status. Finally, we removed the short strap from the purse to make it a clutch. Ask not what your clothes can do for you, but what you can do to your clothes :)
I was quietly obsessing over Zara's silver synthetic moto jacket until I found this real leather, made in Paris, bad *** baby from the 80s--- it even has a hidden inner pocket! (good for my stash... of chocolate). As for the jeans, I was pleasantly surprised with the fit--- I don't normally wear skinnies (or pants in general) but this Rock & Republic + Kohl's collaboration has made me a believer.
We had a busy weekend at the showroom between photo shoots and private appointments! Email info@lapetitemarmoset.com to schedule a time to stop by and play :)
Beaded fringe top and navy clutch- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Skirt- Zara (thrifted by LPMAshley), Shoes- Zara
I had the pleasure of attending the Washingtonian 2012 Style Setter Party at Sax Lounge last night sponsored by Ann Taylor and Honest Tea (here's a post from the grand opening last year)--- the party honored several fashionable DC scene stealers, in particular our friend and blogger Sai of Because I Am Fabulous. You know how People Magazine does a "Who Wore it Better?" section? Sai does the same thing, except it features her vs. a celebrity... Sai always wins! I could go on and on about this woman's around-the-clock perfection, but you must really see for yourself--- you will rethink wearing sweatpants to the grocery store.
Also, I think I just had a vintage 80's beaded fringegasm.
Remember your first love? I'm not talking about the boy in 1st grade with the curly locks eating Lunchables across the cafeteria table or Jonathan Taylor Thomas (who's 31??), i'm talking about your first worn out, balding, suffering stuffed animal companion whether it was an elephant, cat, or monkey. Mine was named "Mr. Bear" and he had a serious case of cataracts (my dad being an eye doctor warned me about his condition). It was an abusive relationship--- I yanked him around by the arm everywhere we went until all his stuffing settled on one side. I refused to let him take baths for weeks at a time and forced him to read Madeline books ad nauseam. Like many first loves, Mr. Bear and I were not meant to be forever--- there came an awkward period where I wasn't sure if I wanted to take him to sleepovers anymore and my mom commented that we were growing apart. I would stash him away when friends visited, not wanting to look like I was still attached. He never complained. Eventually it came time for us to part ways--- he packed up and moved upstairs to the attic, I kept the room. Consider this sweatshirt a tribute :)
Skirt, bag, and bracelet- Vintage (via La Petite Marmoset), Shirt- Forever21 (belongs to LPMAshley I think?), Flats- Deena & Ozzy, Knuckle Ring- Pure Dead Brilliant
Dear Beautiful Vintage Maxi,
You know the glorious sensation of fresh-shaven gams? I could pace back and forth in you all day just to feel your airy silk brush against my legs---I swear that a) this is not a line from 50 Shades of Grey and b) I'm not on hallucinogenic drugs (although i'm pretty sure the construction workers across the street think otherwise).
Satin+Silk+Gold Embroidery+Sheer front panel = Vintage Indian bliss.
And in case the description/photos above didn't hammer home how much I love you, here's quick clip (haven't decided yet if this music is creepy or awesome):
And in case THAT didn't convince you, here's a number from Silk Stockings (apply it to yourself, not lingerie)
Obsessed with this leather cap we've started carrying at the showroom--- it's perfect for going incognito for a little while (or hiding a bad forehead breakout...). I wanted to share a painting/photo styled and shot by Lise, our new photography intern--- she has a great eye and is full of ideas, excited to get some projects going! See more photos on her blog here.
