Get to Packin'!

Eating a delightful Bloomsbury Co. chocolate bar in the airport-- The package says "The Ultimate Well Balanced Diet" and is broken up into three portions: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Yes!

Arrived in Ireland today for a one week trip! (Won it with the sales company I used to work for, 400 people are going with us!)

Packing to go on vacation to a warm exotic locale when your daily outfit consists of nothing more than a swimsuit, sandals, and a cover up is pretty easy-- I usually just grab everything in my summer wardrobe and cram it into a suitcase without giving it much thought.  Packing for a colder European climate in the spring, however, is a different story.

I knew I would have to be more strategic to keep from going over the 50 lb luggage weight limit (an $100 hit to the wallet to fit in that extra pair of shoes is not worth it!) Inspired by Late Afternoon's post on essentials to pack for New York Fashion week, I decided to prepare in a similarly organized way for this trip (Basically, throw all my clothes in a giant heap on the ground and figure out what was important).

WARNING: This is kind of a long list! I combined essentials with things I was bringing in general

1) Rain boots & Umbrella: nothing worse than sloshing around in soaked smelly shoes all week!
2) Utilitarian Military Jacket: For walking around in the country side-- Zara
3) Wrinkle free calf length dress: No risk of getting dirty like a maxi-- Vintage
4) Big pashmina scarves: Double as an extra blanket on the plane--- Both are   thrifted
5) Brown Worn in Low-heeled Boots: Ireland=A lot of walking-- Big Buddha
6) Classic Trench: For singing in the rain-- Zara
7) Yellow Chiffon Dress: A pop of color for day to night wear-- Thrifted
8) Black flat ankle booties: Slip on and off to glide through security checkpoints-- Big Buddha
9) Neutral trousers: Black-- Forever21, Khaki-- Express
10) Legging Pants: to stay comfortable on long flights/ bus rides-- Forever 21
11) Oxfords: A staple-- Baker's
12) Lavender Blazer: To mix things up a bit-- Vintage
13) Basic Tank: Thrifted
14) Pleather Jacket: To toughen up girly separates-- Rainbow
15) Gray Tunic dress: Easy to throw on and go-- Target
16) Slouchy Cardigan: Perfect layering piece-- Forever21
17) Big carry-on Bag: Doubles as a camera bag-- some Random kiosk
18) An eye-catching clutch: For nights at the pub-- Obey

There's my list! I additionally brought a pair of high heeled booties and comfortable ballet flats (probably overdid it on the shoes a bit), and some of the things I brought aren't pictured (like laptop and cameras), but when all was said and done the luggage came out to 34 lbs. Take that Delta Airlines!

  1. Fabulous selections! I always feel when I travel I bring too few shoe options in an attempt to keep under in weight. If they can fit, I say TAKE THEM!

Have a blast! Can't wait to see your pics!

  2. I love your travel looks! Have fun in Ireland! That will be awesome!
I love what you packed, I am always at the 50 pound mark, I have no idea how I am going to move for the summer, and take just two bags with me, perhaps ship my stuff, but that is kind of scary! haha
    love everything you're bringing though!
